Adult Formation: So Who Does This Work, Anyway?
June, July and August are traditionally days of Christian education summer Sabbath time, and for Sunday mornings that holds true for our Adult class or “Forum”. Over this past year, your Christian Formation Commission has endeavored to open new avenues to think theologically, to help us get in touch with our spirituality, and explore “things seen and unseen”. All this is designed to help us accomplish our mission statement: “To know Christ and make Christ known.” If you haven’t availed yourself of these opportunities to grow in faith, in spirit, and to know your fellow worshipers, we hope you will do so in 2012-13. As always, we have exciting ideas ready to put into action.
So, who does this work of discerning what adults do on Sunday mornings? Our vestry has two members who join the commission, Jan Kibler supplies expertise and ideas, and parishioners with an interest who volunteer, or are invited, round out the small group. This year we’ve said goodbye to several long-standing members who have worked diligently for your benefit: Rex Kibler, Pat House, Janet Amiott, Christinia Draper, and Scott McGraw have all taken a well-deserved break. New members have arrived: Lou Paulson, Jeanette Paulson, Kelly Haupt, and Jim Sisson have joined Jan, Judy Petykowski, Lauryl Suroweic and Bruce Husselbee. We meet year-round to set in place the speakers and topics that will enrich our knowledge and expend our minds as well as our hearts, while knitting our people together. See you next year! |
